MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA- Google Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOG) New leaks suggest that the new Chromecast device will be revealed on September 29th.
Google is all set to take the stage on the 29th of this month to present a slew of its upcoming gadget arsenal.
Up until know, all we are sure for is the LG and Huawei Nexus phones that will be announced. There is a possibility of a new tablet as well, though there is no confident word out there just yet.
Just a week before the event, popular Google blog, 9to5Google, managed to obtain internal docs that bring a new player to the game; the second generation Chromecast device.
In case you are not familiar, Google launched the Chromecast back in July of 2013, and it turned out to be a major hit in the market, as over 17 million units have been shipped globally. In a nutshell, Chromecast is an HDMI dongle that turns your conventional TV in a smart one.
According to the leaks provided by 9to5Google, the second gen Chromecast will be fitted with enhanced 802.11ac Wi-Fi, as well as Chromecast Audio feature, that allows users to plug in the device to a speaker via an auxiliary cord. The doc also states that the gizmo will include multi-room support and Chrome or Android audio mirroring.
In addition to the above, the new Chromecast will come with Spotify support too.
Another feature worth the mention is called Fast Play, a gimmick that will let users to establish a faster connection with a connected device, and play content more smoothly whilst pressing the “Cast” button.
As noticed from the images above, the new Chromecast has gone through some significant design changes as well. The first gen was almost identical to a memory stick, while the new one, allegedly always, will look more like a balloon. Unfortunately, the provided images are low-res and cannot really tell anything further than that.
Regardless, everything points to September 29th as a release date, where we will definitely learn everything we need about the forthcoming gizmo.
