Skype, the first app of its kind, decided to make a cumulative update for its Android version, in order to add several brand new features that seem to come in pretty handy.
The new version 6.11 turns Skype into something more than a video calling and texting application. It actually gives the user new options; such as manage conversations, save video messages, and perform enhanced searches.
In more details, you can now interfere with your Recent tab, by long tapping any contact or chat to open a new toolbar and then choosing to delete, mark as read, or mute notifications.
Sounds good but perhaps not enough to sell us all, right? Well, the best part of the new update is that Skype gives Android devices the option to store a video message in the Photo Gallery. Smart idea. It could easily be inspired by Snapchat, if the head team in Skype wanted to create a more permanent collection of snaps and memories.
In any case, next time that you get a video message from your family or a distant friend which you may not have seen both in a long time, be aware that you can save the message and view it later, even if you’re offline.

And as if that’s not enough, you can use the Skype-photo gallery gateway both ways, meaning that you can also send pictures from your photo gallery directly to a group chat. At the same time, you can forward pictures to another conversation group by sampling tapping on them.
The update also introduces some changes concerning the Mojis. In fact, the company made a remark regarding the Mojis in a blog post:
“Received a cool Moji? Just tap on it to forward it to another friend or to a group. Also, Mojis don’t automatically play again when you forward them, you can decide if you want to play it again by tapping on it.”
A few lines after that the post reads: “To share your feedback in-app, just tap the menu on the upper left, tap on “Settings” and tap on “Feedback” under the Support section.”
If you haven’t already downloaded the latest version of Skype for Android, you can get the update from the Play Store.
