A new report from Italy has surfaced online suggesting that the forthcoming Samsung flagship, the Galaxy S7, will feature microSD internal storage expansion feature.
As 2015 is drawing to an end, new leaks emerge every day shedding more light onto the specs and release date of one of the hottest smartphone of the season.
When it comes to the 2015-released current flagship, the Galaxy S6, users were shocked that Samsung dismissed the microSD memory expansion option from it – the Galaxy Note 5 as well-, after being a permanent feature for five consecutive generations of the S line.
The South Korean tech giant had also taken of the water resistance protection that made its debut with the former installment, a bold strategy that also left customers wonder.

From our comparison of the rumored specs of the Galaxy S7 with the Galaxy S6, most of the readers that are in favor of Samsung’s S line-up, stated that the most vital factor that contributed to the decision of not upgrading to the Galaxy S6 from the S5, was the fact that the handset did not pack any memory expansion gimmick.
Hence, it goes without saying that the removal of the microSD card slot has certainly affected the sales of the S6 to a notable degree.
As aforementioned, Italian technology news outlet, HDBlog.it, has gotten in touch with sources close to the company which suggest that Samsung is indeed considering of reviving the microSD feature that the Galaxy S6 lacked.
Moreover, as we reported a month ago, the Galaxy S7 is also expected to boast a Type-C reversible import, instead of the now outdated microUSB v2.0. Besides being reversible, which means that the cord can be plugged either ways, the new technology underneath the hood of Type-C imports allows significantly faster charging of the battery too.
As far as the release date for the Galaxy S7 goes, the latest scenario claims that the much-touted handset will be unveiled on February 21st, just one day before the launch of MWC 2015 annual event in Barcelona, Spain.
