Samsung revealed the second generation of its Gear S smartwatch line-up, which consists of two devices, the Gear S2 and the more stylish Gear S2 Classic, giving Apple’s iWatch a run for its money.
The company also launched its much-touted Gear VR Innovator Edition, virtual reality machine, Samsung’s seconf entry in the field, which is supposed to come face off with the Oculus Rift.
Samsung Gear S2
The more conventional design wise Gear S2 has a 3G-enabled version as well, for those who wish to have a more smartphone-independent smartwatch, as due to the said feature the gadget comes with a e-SIM import, allowing the user to conduct phone calls or send text messages through mobile networks, directly from the Gear S2 itself.

Unfortunately, the Classic variant has a WiFI and Bluetooth only installment.
Nevertheless, both versions of the S2 generation have undergone significant hardware improvements, that have turned them into properly looking watches, unlike the original Gear S, which shared a striking resemblance with a miniaturized Galaxy S4 handset.
In addition to the above, the smartwatches pack Samsung’s home-brewed Tizen OS, as part of an effort to loosen up the ties with Google’s Android, which runs on the majority of the company’s smartphones and tablets. Regardless, even if you are an Android Wear fan, there is no harm in trying something new.
Before jumping to the much-anticipated deals, it is worth noting that the Gear S2 series are compatible with the following smartphones: HTC One M9, Huawei Ascend Mate 7, Mate 8 LG G4, Motorola Moto X (Gen 2), Nexus 6, 5X, 6P, Oppo R7, Sony Xperia Z3, Z5 and the Asus ZenFone 2. Samsung Gear VR
Samsung’s virtual reality toy is exclusively compatible with the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge and it essentially uses the smartphone’s display as a screen. The first gen was made for the Galaxy Note 4 2014 phablet.
The Gear VR is fundamentally based on sensors and various controls. It incorporates a touchpad, a back key, forward and backward keys, accelerometer, gyro and compass sensors. In addition, to the above, there is a proximity sensor on board which can tell whenever the user takes off the equipment from its head and pauses the application he was working on.
Its operation is solely based on the dedicated VR app available on the Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, while, due to its relatively recent release, there is not a selection of apps currently available, though Samsung is working on enriching the respective app store and is encouraging developers to help out as well.
