The 2016 Nexus range codenamed HTC Nexus Sailfish and Marlin shouldn’t be too far off from a formal launch though there is a new 3D video of the same that has appeared online to keep us engaged till then.
Created by Techconfigurations, the 3D render video is based on what’s is known for the two Nexus devices so far. That includes a design that is almost identical to the current HTC 10 flagship device, what with its slim and sleek profile that’s further accentuated by the rounded aluminum case done in a shade of black. The rear also seems to be a bit curved, which allows for a nice feel to hold on to the device.
Both the handsets are also shown sporting a fingerprint scanner that is placed along the rear, along with the 12 MP camera and LED flash. The power and volume rocker buttons have been placed on the right while the twin BoomSound speakers have been placed along the bottom. The USB Type-C port too has been included at the bottom while, according to an earlier leak, the headphone jack is accommodated along the top edge.
HTC Nexus Sailfish and Marlin: Android Nougat, 5-inch display
For those not in the knowing, the Sailfish is the smaller of the two and sports a 5-inch display while the Marlin comes with a 5.5-inch screen. Further, both Marlin and Sailfish will serve to be the launch device for the next Android version named Nougat. Also, while things are a bit more secretive with Marlin, we already know a fair bit of what the Sailfish will be like; thanks to a previous leak.
Based on that, it can be surmised that the Sailfish will come with a 4 GB RAM and 32 GB storage. Also, it’s likely to be the latest Snapdragon 821 that could be powering the device though there is nothing substantive to back the claim so far.
Being a Nexus, what is almost a certainty is top-notch performance along with great software support. However, it will still have to ward off a two-pronged competition – one from its brethren that too offers dollops of performance and style, and the other from the iPhone 7 running the new iOS 10.
