Google Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOG) The search giant has just circulated Android Marshmallow 6.0 which includes a handful of noticeable features.

Google’s new Android M (v. 6.0) has been at the centre of discussion for the last few days and for a good reason. The company’s upgraded operating system brings along some pretty exciting improvements that will allow your device to do a lot more for you.

The tech giant stated that the first devices to receive the new Android M will be the Nexus smartphones, and since October 5th has come, start hitting that update button Nexus owners.

But before you do, let’s all take a look at the new OS’s top five features, some of which will definitely make you go camp outside your local store to buy any of the two new Nexus smartphones, as these will be the first devices to be powered by the Android v.6.0.

1.) The app menu is brand new

The biggest difference any Android owner would notice is the new menu that has been modified to a signifcant extend, compared to the previous versions.

This time, the user can navigate through the device’s apps and widgets with a smooth vertical movement. It may even remind the HTC Sense Custom Android Interface to some. And in case you were wondering, it’s not as much as a matter of improvement, as many users would prefer the horizontal arrangement, but rather a noticeable change; one that betokens a lot more.

2.) Doze

This matter -enhancing battery life- is beyond doubt, the latest trend of every update that companies release.

Though, Google seems to be making a difference with the Doze, a new feature that monitors how your device is being used and adjusts app activity accordingly.

Simply put, if the user does not use his tablet all day, while it lies on the table, Marshmallow will essentially pause its apps so they don’t drain through the battery.

This clearly saves a lot of useful battery life that otherwise would go to waste.

3.) Fingerprint Support

Fingerprint technology are not a new feature that we are now seeing for the first time. But it is, however, the first time that a company releases the feature along with its own operating system.

So before you know it, the said feature will probably be on every device that will run with the new Android M.

4.) Memory Manager

Users have been complaining for a long time about Android Lollipop’s memory-hungry nature that caused all sorts of performance problems in phones that do not pack an adequate amount of RAM.

However, a new feature in the new Android M lets you check out the memory usage of all your installed apps without a third-party app having to consult in the process.

5.) Improved security feature

Android security has always had a hard time scrambling to get users, manufacturers, and carriers, synchronized. But the new Marshmallow OS has a small trick in its sleeve that could give an easy and yet pretty effective solution.

The user can find it in the Settings menu, a header titled “Android security patch level,” followed by a date. As of that day, your device is protected with all known Android patches.

The date represents a public bet on the industry’s ability to keep Android devices updated.
