Apple has been very quiet about its next-generation smartwatch. However, the rumor mill has been creating some buzz, and it looks like the device will be released with the iPhone 7 in September this year as suggested by a new rumor report by Barry Lam, the chairman of Quanta. It will most likely be called Apple Watch 2.
The direct source for this information has not been traced, so this should be treated with some skepticism. Quanta was the primary manufacturer of the first generation Apple Watch. There has been no word about who the current manufacturers are.

Apple Watch 2 rumored features: Built-in GPS tracker, waterproof
As far as the specs are concerned, we can but speculate. A report by 9to5Mac tipped that the upcoming Apple Watch 2 could very well come with a built-in GPS tracker. This enhances its capabilities of fitness tracking, as it does not need to be connected to an iPhone to gather fitness data such as speed, calories, etc.
Another rumored feature is it being waterproof. It could come with swimming tracking facilities, as well. The iPhone 7 is also rumored to have waterproofing technology. Earlier this year, the Cupertino-based company acquired a waterproofing patent. So this rumor has some base. However, submersion is quite different from splashing, whether or not Apple is ready for it, only time will tell.
As far as the design is concerned, it is said that there is little change. However, it is expected to be thinner and sport a bigger battery. Bonus: the breathe app is expected to be launched at the end of this year, and it would indeed be a delight if it features in the Apple Watch 2. There has been no word on the price of the device, but it wouldn’t be a crime to expect it to come at the same price as its predecessor.
