Popular gadget-teardown YouTube channel, iFixIt, took a deeper look into the cheapest of the two, the Nexus 5X, revealing a handful of info that we were not aware of.
The most significant conclusion we drew from watching the said video is the fact that fixing the Nexus 5X smartphone is a piece of cake. LG made it phenomenally easy for the users to repair the device – DIY-style -, as a Philips screwdriver is all the user needs to access a selection of parts; including the camera, Imprint fingerprint sensor and battery. The display is a bit trickier as it is fused, which means that if the LCD or the cover glass breaks, you would have to replace the entire unit.
From a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being the most difficult and 10 the easiest, iFixIt gave the Nexus 5X a solid 7.
The brand new Type-C port is embed on the motherboard making it difficult to access as well. In case you are not familiar, a Type-C port is a fresh type of technology that has supplanted microUSB, offering faster file transferring and charging, while simultaneously being reversible, meaning that the cord can be plugged into the port either way.
As aforementioned, Google’s Nexus 5X (made by LG) is a very nifty and affordable handset, featuring a full HD 5.2-inch display, six-core processor and a 12MP primary camera. Moreover, it comes with the latest and purest version of Android 6.0 Marshmallow straight out of the box. The device retails for US$379 unlocked.
