New HP Chromebook 14 2015: Intel chip, longer battery life and price drop

Hewlett-Packard Company (NYSE: HPQ)- The computer giant has updated its Chromebook 14 laptops ahead of Black Friday sales, offering improved battery life and a new Intel chip for a lower price tag.

The Black Friday sales season is right around the corner, November 27th to be precise, and companies from all consumer electronics subfields have already started preparing to make the most out of this annual opportunity for higher sales figures.

Last week, we made headlines with Sony cutting the price of its PlayStation 4 gaming console for Black Friday. As it appears, the Palo Alto-based HP has just announced a set of major upgrades regarding its Chromebook 14 computers.

The new Chromebook 14 will be equipped with an Intel Celeron N2840, which will be replacing the former NVIDIA one, and is expected to deliver much-improved performance results on the table. Though, it is a shame that the device packs solely 2 gigs of non-configurable memory.

Moreover, the version with the 1,366 x 768 resolution display has undergone a battery upgrade, with HP promising nine hours and fifteen minutes instead of eight that was last year. There is a full HD display installment as well, though the battery there stays as it was last year.

As we mentioned above, duly to the Black Friday shopping season, HP will be offering both variants of the Chromebook 14 for discounted prices- the 1,366 x 768 one will set you back US$250, while the full-HD one US$280. Compared to last year’s price tags, that was a $50 cut on both versions.

As correctly pointed out by various outlets, the particular sale is a bargain to look for, as Chrome OS powered laptops with full HD displays are rarely seen under $300. So if you are in the search of a budget Chromebook with a high-res display, this should be your only chance for the foreseeable future.

The HP Chromebook 14 laptops come with some exciting extra features, as they sport a single USB 3.0 port, a pair of USB 2.0 ports, HDMI out and a micro SD card reader. In addition to that, customers will receive 100 GB of free Google Drive storage for two years, a three-month trial of Google Play Music, three free movie rentals from Google Play and twelve Gogo in-flight internet passe.

The new Chromebook 14 laptops will be available in the United States on November 8 for the aforementioned price tags.
