LG and Huawei Nexus 5 2015 pre-orders to start on October 13

,

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA- Google Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOG) Google’s annual autumn event is right around the corner where the refresh of the Nexus line-up is expected to be revealed though there were no talks regarding the date that pre-orders kick off.

October 13th falls exactly two weeks after the day of the event. Coincidence or not?

A source close to the matter tipped Android blog Talk Android, that both rumored handsets will be available to pre-order on the 13th of October. The particular day is exactly two weeks after the 29th of September; do the days just coincide or is it planned from the very begining? There is no word on that either.

Second scenario?

Knowing Google from previous years the possibility of pre-orders going live right after the wrap-up of the event still remains on the table, though this year is sort of special, since two handsets are expected to be revealed instead of one; one from Huawei and the other from LG.

The rumors

As far as the phones go, it is said that the device made by LG will be the smaller one, packing a modest 1080p Full HD 5.2-inch display, while the Huawei one will go with a QHD 5.7-inch display – 0.2 inches smaller than last year’s Motorola Nexus 6.

The LG Nexus will rock Qualcomm’s hexa-core Snapdragon 808, 3GB of RAM, and a 2700mAh battery. The battery size is a bit questionable in terms of longevity so we will see how this goes- we hope that Gooogle will go with a 3,000mAh one.

The largest sibling, the Huawei Nexus, will boast a more powerful chip, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 housing eight cores, 3 gigs of memory and 3,000mAh plus battery thus accommodating the 5.7-inch display.

Google following Apple’s strategy?

With two devices possibly at hand, we notice an effort from Google to cover a wider spectrum of customers this year; both the phablet and the normal-sized for today’s standards smartphone market.

It is worth to mention that up until 2013, Google had been playing within the borders of the normal sized market -based on the standards of each season. Though, in 2014, with the release of the humongous 5.9-inch Motorola Nexus 6 we witnessed a sudden flip over to the phablet array.

Perhaps that particular option did not fit a significant proportion of consumers? It is highly probable, hence why the search giant might go with two handsets this year, just like its arch rival Apple did in 2014 with the release of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.
