The American graphics cards giant, NVIDIA, has just announced the replacement of the original SHIELD Tablet, the SHIELD Tablet K1. The former was reportedly facing some severe overheating issues, hence the company ceased production.
The second generation of the series features the same design aesthetics with its predecessor and an identical spec sheet for a lower price tag. So without any further ado, let’s take a closer look at the SHIELD Tablet K1.
Specs and software
The SHIELD Tablet K1 sports an 8-inch IPS LCD capacitive multitouch touchscreen, with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels (~283 ppi pixel density).
Underneath the hood, the tablet is powered by a Nvidia Tegra K1 processor, housing four Cortex-A15 cores, each clocked at 2.2GHz, coupled with a ULP GeForce Kepler (192 cores) GPU and 2GB of RAM. Internal storage capacity is 16GB, expandable via microSD up to 16GB.
Camera wise, the primary sensor, located on the back, shoots at 5-megapixels (2592 х 1944 pixels), featuring autofocus, geo-tagging, touch focus, video recording and HDR. The secondary camera, sitting on the front, shoots at 5MP and packs HDR as well.
