The US-based carbonated soft drink maker, has just launched its first smartphone, the Pepsi Phone P1 and P1S in China, powered by Google’s Android 5.1 Lollipop.
The news regarding Pepsi making a phone hit us in October, where the company itself teased us about the device with a photo shared through its Weibo account. Shenzhen-based Scooby Communication Equipment company will be manufacturing the handsets, while Pepsi is licensing its brand for use of smartphones and accessories only.
The soft drinks giant clarified that it has no intentions of making an advent to the smartphone market, though it is planning to circulate a selection of accessories aimed towards the Chinese market.
The Pepsi Phone P1 features sleek looks and a rather competitive spec sheet, so, without any further ado, let’s take a closer look at the handset.
Specs and software
The Pepsi Phone P1 sports a 5.5-inch 2.5D curved display with a resolution of 1080×1920 pixels (Full HD).

In addition to the dual-SIM capability, the handset packs hybrid dual-SIM card slots, with the second slot eligible for either a SIM or microSD card. Proximity sensor, Ambient light sensor, Accelerometer, Fingerprint Sensor (placed underneath the rear camera) and Gyroscope are included as well.
Furthermore, in order to accommodate the 5.5-inch full HD display, Scooby has incorporated a 3,000mAh battery, which should be fair enough for the given spec sheet.
The Pepsi Phone P1 comes with Android 5.1 Lollipop straight out of the box, skinned with dido OS 6.1. The company has not made any remark yet concerning future updates.

Moreover, the P1/P1S is available in Blue, Gold, and Silver colour variants.
As far as availability goes, the handset is currently at crowd-funding stages, with the goal set at $46,9950 and the deadline scheduled for December 3.
