Samsung Galaxy S7 will feature a Magnesium Alloy Unibody

SUWON, SOUTH KOREA- Samsung (NASDAQ:SMSGF) Consumer electronics giant will be allegedly announcing the Galaxy S7 smartphone in February 2016.

Samsung, the Korean colossal company, is already planning to release the Samsung Galaxy S7 in late February, 2016. According to the latest reports and leaked information, the company is believed to have opted for a unibody design. More specifically, the upcoming smartphone is expected to feature a magnesium alloy unibody design.

The latest information has been gathered from numerous sources that operate within Samsung’s supply chain unit. So those sources report that Samsung has received magnesium alloy case samples recently, while at the same time, the firm that provided the magnesium alloy samples is reportedly the one that made the 6013 series aluminium metal frame for the Galaxy S6 series.

Moreover, according to Phone Arena the device will not have a metal frame that runs through its corners. It seems that the supplier was requested to provide sample of magnesium alloy with smooth surface like the ones that Samsung’s rival phones – the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus – are made of. At this point, it is worth noting that the iPhone 6S uses the 7000 series aluminium whereas the iPhone 6S Plus, features the 6003 aluminium.

According to the common belief, Samsung should have stuck to the glass metal build for its new smartphone instead of switching to a tougher and more resistant metal design. Of course on the other hand, the magnesium alloy is tougher to bent – thus more damage resistant – and at the same time considerably lighter than the equivalent aluminium alloys.

So on second thought, Samsung’s decision could serve a double purpose: make a stronger smartphone and at the same time lighter.

As for the specifications, nothing has been confirmed yet but a few trustworthy sources, including G For Fames, claim that the Galaxy S7 will come with a 5.7inch display along with a dual camera setup. However what caught our attention in terms of specs, is the company’s decision, to release two different versions with two different processors, one of them being a Snapdragon 820 SoC and the other an Exynos M1.
