Seagate 10 TB BarraCuda Pro with 7200RPM unveiled: Price and features

Seagate has released 10TB BarraCuda Pro, which is capable of storing a wide range of content in the form of operating system, images, videos, and documents. With a wide range of hard drives that provide up to 10TB of internal storage, Seagate has released the new hard drives for desktops, NAS applications including video surveillance systems.

Commenting on the launch, Seagate revealed that to continue the legacy of PC-based hard drives, BarraCuda clearly responds to the growing market demands for powerful and high-performance hard drives. Moreover, the new range of hard drives doesn’t compromise on the capacity, effectiveness or affordability.

The newly introduced BarraCuda series includes increased hard drive capacities ranging from 500GB to 10TB with spindle speeds starting from 5900RPM and going up to 7200RPM. Moreover, you will be able to get DRAM cache from 16GB to 64GB.

Responding to a query regarding power consumption, Seagate disclosed that the new BarraCuda Pro only consumes 6.8 watts during seek and 4.5 watts when idle, which is very low when compared to other competing hard drives available on the market.

Manufactured with a seven-platter design, the Barracuda Pro makes use of conventional magnetic recording technology during usage. If you look at the current market conditions, you will be able to know that BarraCuda Pro is the only efficient hard drive with low power consumption.

With transfer rates of up to 220MB/s, the new 10TB BarraCuda Pro is priced at $534.99, which is comparatively low when compared with its enterprise brother. It also comes with a five-year limited warranty.

Seagate also announced the launch of the gaming-centric FireCuda, which is available in 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch. Meanwhile, the FireCuda provides support up to 2TB capacity and are up to five times faster than standard hard drives. While the 1TB FireCuda is available at $85, the 2TB variant is available at $110.
