TOKYO, JAPAN- Sony Corporation (NASDAQ: SNE) The Japanese consumer electronics giant has cut the price of the PlayStation 4 in the European and Asian markets ahead of the holidays’ shopping season.
Sony has been dominating the gaming scene with its PlayStation 4 console, beating rival’s Microsoft Xbox One in global sales. To enforce the ongoing success, Sony decided to cut the price of the device in a number of countries that are located in the European and Asian region.
Sony flaunted about PlayStation 4 sales in its respective blog post:
“Since the launch of PS4 our aim has always been to provide players with the best gaming experiences at the best value, and we’ve been thrilled with the amount of players who have joined our world”
The particular move follows the price slash in US and Canada, due to the upcoming Black Friday shopping season, US$349.99 and CA$429.99 respectively.

The new price tag of the 500GB PlayStation 4 commences today, October 21. More specifically, the console will retail for €349.99 in France, Benelux, Italy, Ireland, Spain and Portugal, $479.95 in Australia, $569.95 in New Zealand, €349.95 ($397.32) in Germany and Austria, £299.99 ($463.27) in the UK and AED 1399 ($380.89) in the United Arab Emirates. The company has also mentioned that the price drop is not limited to the aforementioned areas, as more countries of both regions will follow soon.
As you may have noticed, UK customers will be paying a lot more compared to the rest of the European countries due to its currency analogy with the dollar.
Moreover, besides the price cuts, Sony will be offering a number of new bundles including; Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, Batman: Arkham Knight, Destiny: The Taken King, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and many more, all of which can be found on Sony’s website.
